As the COVID-19 pandemic became increasingly more serious, my urge to help and better the world grew. Along with many other high schoolers, I have been watching the news, overhearing very grim conversations about the virus, and also have experienced some of the scary repercussions this deadly disease has to offer for our world. It almost feels impossible for me to sit back and just watch the world unravel; I needed a place where I knew I could get reliable, poignant and meaningful sources so that I could play my role as a good citizen. However, I was having trouble finding a place where I felt I was truly making a difference. I surfed the internet looking for places that accept a teenager’s help, and places where my time and energy were going to be put to good use. The search to find the right place proved difficult, and I was left with barely any viable options. The reason that I like Impact Community Service so much is because it is a fast and easy way for teens to find a plethora of great opportunities to do community service. Through Impact Community Service, I was able to find organizations that best fit and appeal to me. I am excited to dig deeper in learning about virtual opportunities to make my impact in the world.
